On July 17, 2024, a round table on the topic was held at the Institute of Plant Protection of the National Academy of Sciences "Protection of vegetable crops of open and closed soil from harmful organisms during the growing season of 2024 in the conditions of global climate change and martial law" the purpose of which was to discuss the problems of protecting vegetable crops in open and closed soil during the growing season under the conditions of climate change and to provide recommendations to farmers on the timely implementation of protective measures taking into account the conditions of martial law.
About 50 participants from all regions of Ukraine took part in the work of the round table, including representatives of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, the Department of Phytosanitary Safety and Control in Crop Production of the State Production and Consumer Service of Ukraine; scientific institutions, educational institutions, agricultural producers, etc.
The participants of the round table were warmly greeted by the Director of the Institute of Plant Protection, Dr. S.-G. of Sciences, academician of the National Academy of Sciences Oleksandr Ivanovich Borzykh and Vozniy Vasyl Mykolayovych, head of the plant protection department of the Department of Phytosanitary Safety of the Department of Phytosanitary Safety and Control in Plant Production of the State Production and Consumer Service of Ukraine.
The participants of the round table listened to important and relevant reports and received answers to the questions that interested them. Yes, Anna Nikolaevna Tkalenko - Dr. S.-G. of Science, deputy director, head the laboratory of the microbiological method of plant protection of the National Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences made a report on the topic "Biological protection of vegetable crops - an integral component of obtaining ecologically safe products".
She reported on the most common diseases of open ground vegetable crops and measures to limit their development Valentyna Hryhorivna Sergiyenko - candidate s.-g. sciences; prov. of science an employee of the Laboratory of Pesticide Application Technology of the Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The presentation was extremely interesting Mrynsky Ivan Mykolayovych, candidate s.-g. of Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Botany and Plant Protection of Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University on the topic "Main pests of vegetable crops in open ground".
Boyarin Vasyl Vasyliovych Ph.D. s.-g. of Sciences, head Department of the Biological Method of Plant Protection of the State University "Volyn Regional Phytosanitary Laboratory" made a presentation on the topic "Pragmatic evaluation of the effectiveness of the biological method of plant protection in vegetable production", spoke about the practical use of biological preparations, their effectiveness, including compared to chemical preparations, etc.
A representative of the BTU company took part in the work of the round table Vdovenko Serhii Anatoliyovych, Dr. S.-G. Sciences, professor, head of the vegetable growing sector of the BTU company, who made an excellent report on the topic "Successful combo: open and closed soil and biotechnology", spoke about the company's modern biological preparations, their effectiveness and application in vegetable crop protection systems.
He gave the closing speech Strigun Oleksandr Oleksiyovych, Dr. S.-G. Nauk, S.N.S., Head of the Laboratory of Entomology and Resistance of Agricultural Crops to Pests of the Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences. He emphasized the importance of conducting such scientific events, exchanging ideas, experiences, and developments, especially under conditions of rapid climate change. Very important is the experience of "practitioners" - agrarians, farms regarding the issues being discussed.
