On December 20, 2017, the public organization "Ukrainian Entomological Society" with the participation of scientists from the Institute of Plant Protection, the Institute of Agriculture of the Northeast of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Zoology named after I.I. Schmalhausen National University of Ukraine, National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine held the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference "Entomological readings in memory of outstanding entomological scientists V.P. Vasiliev and M.P. Dyadechka", which was dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the birth of outstanding entomological scientists Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Vadym Petrovych Vasiliev and Professor Mykola Platonovich Dyadechka.
The Institute of Plant Protection of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was chosen as the venue, as the labor and scientific activities of these outstanding scientists have been associated with it for quite a long time. The conference was attended by scientists from many institutions and institutions of Ukraine, students of the Faculty of Plant Protection, Biotechnology and Ecology of NUBiP of Ukraine, veteran scientists, in particular representatives of scientific schools of V.P. Vasiliev, M.P. Dyadechko and M.A. Telenga, as well as O.M. Dyadechko (son of the scientist) - about 100 people in total.
The conference was opened by the director of the Institute of Plant Protection of the National Academy of Sciences, corresponding member O.I. Borzykh, presenting brief information about the role of the named scientists in the activities of the institution. Then there was a plenary session, at which reports were made:
With memories of V.P. Vasyliev, M.P. Dyadechka and M.A. Telengu were shared by veterans, especially students of these scientists - V.T. Sabluk, V.A. Sanin, Zh.D. Kudina, D.M. Feshchyn. They noted both the high scientific professionalism and great humanity of their teachers. O.M. Dyadechko showed some family heirlooms and told about them.
The speeches of scientists and graduate students of the Institute of Zoology named after I.I. Schmalhausen of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet of the National Academy of Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences, the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine, the Poltava State Agrarian Academy, the Botanical Garden named after Acad. O. V. Fomin of Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko and other institutions. They touched on the actual problems regarding insect fauna and mites in agrocenoses and urban landscape phytocenoses, biological protection of plants. Everything is extremely important economically, ecologically and socially.
