All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference "Entomological readings in memory of famous entomological scientists S.O. Trybela and M.P. A second"

On June 3, 2025, the Plant Protection Institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine together with the Public Organization "Ukrainian Entomological Society" held the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference "Entomological readings in memory of famous entomological scientists S.O. Trybela and M.P. Sekuna", which was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of their birth. The labor and scientific activity of these scientists was connected with the Institute of Plant Protection for quite a long time, where they formed as highly qualified scientists, held various scientific positions, in particular, head of the laboratory. The purpose of the conference was the exchange of scientific experience, ideas, results of scientific research and commemoration of famous entomological scientists. The participants of the conference in Online mode were scientists of NAAS institutions, higher education institutions of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine, and agricultural companies. The son and grandson of S.O. are also present in the hall. Tribela

The conference participants were warmly welcomed by: director of the Institute of Plant Protection, academician of the National Academy of Sciences Oleksandr Ivanovich Borzykh, Acting Academician-Secretary of the Plant Breeding Department of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences Khareba Volodymyr Vasylovich, professor Mykhailo Mykhailovych Klyuchevich, head of the plant protection department of the Poltava Agrarian University, professor Pysarenko Viktor Mykytovych, associate professor of the Department of Botany and Plant Protection of the Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University Mrynskyi Ivan Mykolayovych. In their speeches, they honored the memory of doctors of agricultural sciences, professors Stanislav Oleksandrovich Tribel and Mykola Pavlovich Sekun, noted their significant contribution to the formation of the science of plant protection, the formation of a whole generation of specialists who continue the work of their teachers even today. It was also noted that in the conditions of a full-scale war, agricultural production of Ukraine continues to be the guarantor of food security not only of our country, but also of the whole world. They thanked Ukrainian scientists and farmers for their work, which today is a contribution to the recovery and development strategy of Ukraine.

It was noted that S.O. Trybel and M.P. Sekun made a significant contribution to the development of fundamental and applied entomology, and this served as the basis for the development of environmentally safe technologies for the protection of agricultural crops from pests. The students expressed many warm words to their mentors, noting their high professionalism, extensive scientific, practical and life experience, flexible analytical mind, ability to ignite the desire to work at the highest level and achieve their goals, demandingness, humanity, sensitivity. It was also emphasized that agricultural science has lost such luminaries as S.O. Trybel and M.P. A second, but their images and good deeds will live as long as we remember them.
