Meeting of the coordination council of the scientific and methodical center for the implementation of the scientific research program "plant protection"

Nowadays, the agro-industrial complex is a fairly profitable industry in the economy of Ukraine. But, despite this, there are many problems that need to be solved immediately. For the stable development of agro-industrial production, the improvement of its scientific support becomes important.

When growing agricultural crops, often almost a third of all material costs fall on the implementation of protective measures, which is associated with the negative activity of pests, pathogens of plant diseases and weeds. A huge role in solving problems related to plant protection and at the same time improving the phytosanitary condition of agrocenoses is played by the Scientific and Methodological Center for the implementation of the scientific research program "Plant Protection", the main institution of which is the Institute of Plant Protection of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The Center also includes other institutions that, together with the main one, carry out a wide range of scientific and research works on the protection of many important agricultural crops in various soil and climatic zones of the country.

The total number of implementers of PND 12 "Plant Protection" for 2016-2020 is 18 scientific institutions, including:

• Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian Region of the National Academy of Sciences
• Institute of Agriculture of the Northeast of the National Academy of Sciences
• Institute of potato growing of the National Academy of Sciences
• Institute of Oil Crops of the National Academy of Sciences
• State Institute of Grain Crops of the National Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences
• Carpathian State Agricultural Research Station of the Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian Region of the National Academy of Sciences
• Institute of plant breeding named after V.Ya. Yuryev National Academy of Sciences
• Institute of Irrigated Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences
• Rice Institute of the National Academy of Sciences
• Institute of Horticulture of the National Academy of Sciences
• Research station of pomology named after L. P. Simyrenko, National Academy of Sciences
• NSC "Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences"
• NSC "Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking named after V.E. Tairov".

On November 8, 2018, a meeting of the coordinating council of the NMS was held at the Institute of Plant Protection of the National Academy of Sciences together with the implementers of PND 12 "Plant Protection" from 18 scientific institutions. The agenda was as follows: approval of final and short reports on the implementation of research works for 2018 (fundamental and applied research).

Responsible executors reported on the results of their work, giving great importance to the problems of scientific support for the selection of agricultural crops against pathogens and pests, monitoring the phytosanitary state of agrocenoses and conducting effective protective measures. The reviewers carefully analyzed the reports of the performed studies. At the same time, attention was paid to the issues of material, technical and personnel support for the implementation of the PND. During the conduct of scientific experiments, the methodological commission of the institutions properly checked them.

Summarized the results of the work and formulated the tasks for the institutions for the future, the Deputy Chairman of the Coordination Council of the NMC, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Plant Protection of the National Academy of Sciences S.V. Retman and secretary of the NMC O.H. Afanasyev.

The decision was made: to approve the reports on the implementation of scientific and research works of the implementing institutions of PND 12 "Plant Protection" for 2018.
