The Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry of Pesticides was founded in 1956. Until 1978, it was headed by a leading scientist in the field of analytical pesticide chemistry, Doctor of Chemical Sciences E.S. shaggy In 1978-1992, the laboratory was headed by Doctor of Agricultural Sciences V.M. Kavetskyi, 1992-2015 - doctor of agricultural sciences, professor L.I. Bagel

Main areas of research:

 Rationale for the rational use of pesticides in modern land use systems as an element of preserving the optimal and high-quality state of agrocenoses (according to the criterion of residual amounts of pesticides), which allows obtaining a high-quality harvest and ensuring the environmental safety of the environment.

 Development of methods and ways of determining individual active substances and their combinations in various matrices (objects of agrocenoses, soil, poisoned seeds, preparative forms of plant protection products).

 Studying the dynamics of pesticide detoxification in agrocenoses and determining the numerical criteria of the process.

Development of methods of environmental assessment of agrotechnologies of chemical protection of agricultural crops (determination of the risk of pesticide use according to AETI) for the purpose of forecasting, prevention of environmental risks and reduction of negative impact on the environment.

Theoretical substantiation of the formation and improvement of the range of insecticides in order to increase their effectiveness, ecological safety, as well as to prevent the formation of resistant populations in the main pests of agricultural crops.

Justification of scientific principles of rational use of pesticides in integrated plant protection systems

Monitoring the sensitivity of natural populations of the main pests of potatoes and grain crops to insecticides, studying the insecto-acaricidal resistance of harmful and beneficial species of arthropods.

Study of the biological and physiological action and after-effect of insecticides of a new range on harmful insect species with simultaneous and sequential application of toxicants.

 

Main developments:

  • A method of systematic analysis has been developed for the qualitative and quantitative control of pesticides used in the technologies of growing grain and fruit crops, sugar beet;
  • The correlation between the polarity of pesticides (their physico-chemical properties) and the rate of their detoxification in agrocenoses was established and formalized, the possibility of using the dipole moment and the detoxification rate constant for the ecotoxicological screening of pesticides in agrocenoses was proved;
  • A model for assessing the risk of pesticide use according to the Agroecotoxicological Index (AETI) was created and built on a 10-point scale, which takes into account the properties of pesticides, the seasonal load and the tolerance of agrocenosis, and makes it possible to choose the optimal protection option for each agricultural crop.

  • The method of determining thiamethoxam, bifenthrin, hymexazole and thiram - the active substances of preparations for poisoning the seeds of Cruiser, 350 FS, t.c.s., Semaphore 20ST, t.c.s., Tachigaren, z.p., Royalflo, v.s.c. in poisoned sugar beet seeds (Patent for the invention No. 88947).
  • The method of determining the active substances of the drug Prestige 290FS, t.c.s. imidacloprid and pensicuron in poisoned potato seed tubers (Patent for the invention No. 101875).
  • The method of determining prothioconazole and tebuconazole - the active substances of the preparation for treating seeds Lamardor 400FS, t.c.s. in fermented soybean and lupine seeds (Patent for the invention No. 101876).
  • The method of determining clothianidin and beta-cyfluthrin - the active substances of the drugs Modesto 480 FS, Elado 480 FS, Poncho Beta 453.3 FS in the poisoned seeds of rapeseed and sugar beet (Patent for the invention No. 108513).
  • The method of determination of flutriafol and thiabendazole - the active substances of the drug Vincyt 050 СС, k.s. in poisoned seeds of grain crops (wheat, barley, rye, oats, rice) (utility model patent No. 109851).
  • The method of determining imidacloprid, clothianidin, prothioconazole and tebuconazole - the active substances of the Yunta Quadro 373.4 FS preparation in poisoned wheat and barley seeds (Utility Model Patent No. 113301).
  • The method of determining clothianidin and penflufen - the active substances of the drug Emesto Quantum, 273.5 FS, TH in poisoned potato seed tubers (utility model patent No. 121967).
  • The method of determining the active substances of the class of imidazolines: imazapyr and imazamox in preparative forms of herbicides (Patent for utility model No. 120888).
  • The method of determining prothioconazole and metalaxyl - the active substances of the drug Redigo M 120 FS, TH in poisoned corn seeds (utility model patent No. 127193).
  • The method of determining the active substances of the sulfonylurea class: nicosulfuron and rimsulfuron in the preparative forms of herbicides (utility model patent No. 143990).

 The method of simultaneous determination of the active substances of pyraclostrobin, fluxapiroxad and epoxiconazole in preparative forms of fungicides (Utility Model Patent No. 146786).

  • The method of simultaneous determination of the active substances of metconazole, mepiquat chloride and ethephon in the preparative forms of fungicides, retardant fungicides, plant growth regulators (Utility Model Patent No. 148190).
  • The method of simultaneous determination of the active substances of hyzalofop-p-ethyl and kletodim in preparative forms of herbicides (Patent for a utility model No. 149248).
  • More than 40 methodological guidelines have been developed for the determination of pesticides in plants, soil and water (approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine).

Practical developments:

improved systems of chemical protection of grain crops, potatoes, rapeseed, soybeans, which are included in the integrated system of protection of these crops against harmful organisms;

the development of resistance to pyrethroid insecticides in the populations of the Colorado potato beetle, harmful beetle, cereal aphids, and mites was revealed, and measures to prevent it were proposed.

Combined use of insecticides and fungicides on potatoes;

System of chemical protection of rape against pests and diseases;

Optimizing the chemical protection of sugar beet seedlings against major pests;

Combined use of insecticides and plant growth regulators on seed clover;

Optimized chemical protection of winter wheat against the harmful beetle;

Combined use of pesticides with plant growth regulators on potatoes;

System of chemical protection of fruit crops from pests and diseases.

development of methodological support for chemical-analytical monitoring and ecotoxicological monitoring of pesticides in agrocenoses.

justification of the rational use of modern pesticides based on the ecological characteristics of harmful organisms and the properties of chemical preparations.

research on the formation of resistant populations of pests and pathogens to pesticides and substantiation of anti-resistant plant protection systems.

 

 

The Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry of Pesticides provides services (on a contractual basis) using the scientific and methodological base and patents:

determination of the content of active substances in preparative forms of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides 

determination of the density of plant protection products (by hydrometer)

quantitative determination of the content of active substances in the impregnated seed material of agricultural crops (completeness of impregnation)
